Dating again

What's a good time to introduce your SO to your little one? My kid is 7. I have been divorced about 3 years. This is the first guy I have dated (it's been 5 months). He doesn't have kids so I feel like he doesn't understand why it's a big deal for me. And my friends are saying I should introduce them, too. But somehow I am still feeling like it's too soon. Is there a "safe" number? Or experience you can share? Thanks.
