The cost will totally depend on the process and how contentious you and your spouse are. Sorry to not have a better answer for you. The best thing you can do to control your fees is to work WITH your spouse instead of fighting. This isn't always possible (abuse, narcissism etc), but often people need to do the adulting it takes to work together. If you do that, the least expensive option is to do it yourself, but you might make costly mistakes. There are online services like Hello Divorce that are fairly inexpensive, but you get help from an attorney. Mediators are the next least expensive, but they are all different, so make sure you understand what they are doing for you (like, are they filing the paperwork or just helping you agree). Attorneys can easily cost $5000 per person for an uncontested divorce or over $100,000 each for really ugly cases.

Es increible que tenga que pagar tanto por separarme de una persona que un día quise y aún más que mi divorcio esté durando más que mi propio matrimonio. Este sistema es realmente injusto y caótico.

Although most people would prefer to have an attorney by their side when going through a divorce, many also worry about how much this will cost. Nationwide, the readers in our survey reported paying their attorneys an average of $270 per hour. However, individual rates varied a lot. Although nearly seven in ten readers (69%) paid between $200 and $300 an hour, about one in ten (11%) paid $100 per hour, and two in ten (20%) paid $400 or more.
